Popular Image sharing service for
iPhone and Android, Instagram, just launched web profiles for it’s users.
Previously the only thing you
could view on the web was individual photos, but now you can view entire
profiles as well:
Your web profile features a
selection of your recently shared photographs just above your profile photo and
bio, giving others a snapshot of the photos you share on Instagram. In
addition, you can follow users, comment & like photos and edit your profile
easily and directly from the web. It’s a beautiful new way to share your
Instagram photos!
To see someone’s profile, just
head to instagram.com/username (where
‘username’ is the person’s instagram username) and it should be
right there. Provided the user has a public profile and photos. If you have an
account with images set to private, then users will have be to logged in, and
only those approved by you will be able to view your images.
Instagram also assured users that
their focus is still mobile, even though they’re becoming friendlier to
non-mobile visitors:
Instagram is focused on the
production of photos from mobile devices so users are not currently able to
upload from the web. We’re excited about how Web Profiles will make it easier
to browse and share content on the web for all our users.
Web profiles are still rolling
out so it might take a while for yours to appear. What do you think of
Instagram’s new web profiles? A good thing to have, or is it unnecessary?
